Kitulgala?
Kitulgala
is a small riverside village located in the wet zone of western Sri Lanka, about 85 km east of Colombo and on the way to the hill country (like Nuwara Eliya
and Hatton).
It's nestled between lush rainforests and the Kelani River, making it one of the best spots in Sri
Lanka for adventure, nature, and peaceful
retreats—yet still off the usual
tourist path.

Kitulgala is not just an adventure hub—it’s surrounded by some of Sri Lanka’s
most scenic and culturally rich locations. Within 1–2 hours, you can visit Laxapana and Aberdeen Falls,
explore ancient sites like the Belilena Cave, or take a
spiritual journey to the sacred Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada). If you
love cooler climates and tea-covered hills, head towards Hatton or Nuwara Eliya
through beautiful routes passing Maussakelle Reservoir and tea estates.
Nature lovers can enjoy birdwatching, hiking, or visiting Asupini Ella
and local forest reserves.
