1️⃣ Temporary Driving Permit for Tourists
✅ Where to get it: Available at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) upon arrival.
๐Ÿ’ฐ Fee: Previously LKR 2,000 per month — recently proposed to increase to LKR 15,000 (check the latest rate at the airport counter).
๐Ÿ“… Validity: Based on your tourist visa (up to 5 months).

2️⃣ Endorsement / Conversion for Longer Stays
If you’re staying in Sri Lanka longer or want to drive officially, you have two options:
๐Ÿš˜ Option A – Endorsement of IDP (via Automobile Association of Ceylon)
Fee: LKR 11,040 – 15,000 (approx.)
Validity: Up to 1 year
Note: Requires an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country.
๐Ÿš— Option B – Temporary Permit / Conversion (via Dept. of Motor Traffic – Werahera)
Fee: LKR 1,000 – 2,000 per month (temporary permit)
Medical Certificate: Around LKR 7,500 for foreigners (if full conversion needed).
Validity: Matches your visa duration.
